UMA SACCO Ltd, is a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society for Medical Doctors in Uganda which was established following a resolution of the Uganda Medical Association (U.M.A) AGM of June 2011 in line with the Cooperative societies Act CAP 112 and the Cooperative societies Regulations 1993 with a vision of “A highly ethical and socio-economically empowered society of medical doctors in Uganda”. UMA SACCO has its Head Office in Kampala but extending services to all members wherever they may be in and out of Uganda.

Job Requirements

A minimum of a University Degree in a business related course, with Knowledge in finance or banking

Duties

  1. Coordinate management staff to effectively implement the SACCO’s strategic plan.
  2. Monitor the achievement of the SACCO’s strategic objectives
  3. Oversee compliance with policies set by Committee, government regulations, contracts, and donor requirements.
  1. Ensure formulation of policy regarding internal controls and financial management.
  2. Secure capital as required.
  3. Ensure availability of financial resources and their appropriate use.
  4. Coordinate budgetary planning and ensure that accurate and timely financial reports are always available.
  1. Spearhead all decisions of hiring, termination, and salary increments.
  2. Guide and direct all staff members.
  3. Ensure staff understand vision and mission of the institution
  1. Ensure timely management committee meetings
  2. Take minutes during management committee meetings and ensure their confirmation in the subsequent meeting
  3. Advice the institution’s Committee on any decision taken that may affect the general operation of the institution.
  4. Any other duties that may be delegated by the Committee.
  1. Enter into contracts on behalf of the institution e.g signing loan agreements.
  2. Signatory to all accountable documents
  3. Recommend institution of legal proceedings/defence/compromise for the interest of the SACCO
  4. Ensure that good relations are maintained

Job Requirements

Duties

  1. Ensure timely preparation of trial balances on monthly basis
  2. Prepare monthly reports and analyze ratios
  3. Prepare accurate annual financial statements on a timely basis
  1. Ensure that the budget allocations are not exceeded and revenue targets are met and advise management accordingly.
  2. Develop and implement cost control measures to reduce operational costs based on targets agreed upon with the Manager.
  1. Ensure that the SACCO holds sufficient but not excess liquidity according to policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure that the financial structure meets targets agreed upon with the Manager or specified in strategic plan that increasingly adhere to.
